A GODDESS WHOSE TIME HAS COME

In 1995, a film opened that caused a riot.  Critics loathed it.  The Golden Raspberry Awards celebrated its over-the-top embrace of camp. And audiences were left wondering what it was that director Paul Verhoeven was trying to say.  Fast forward almost 20 years, and SHOWGIRLS has accrued not only a cult following, but also the sort of respect that was inconceivable all those years ago. Filmmakers Jeffery Schwarz and Lotti Pharriss Knowles, whose previous collaborations include I AM DIVINE, are set to mark the 20th anniversary of SHOWGIRLS with GODDESS: THE FALL AND RISE OF SHOWGIRLS. My full interview with Knowles about the allure of SHOWGIRLS (and her own obsession with horror films) will post in a few days. Meanwhile, click on the above to hear her musings on why SHOWGIRLS has stood the test of time.  And click here to find out how you can be part of their Kickstarter campaign to bring GODDESS to a public that can’t wait to see it (put me at the top of that list).  Click below for the pitch (and fabulous clips) by Knowles and Schwarz.  Click here for the revealing full interview with Lotti Pharriss Knowles.
