What Gives Alex Honnold Pause?

 

Alex Honnold is the only human being to have free-soloed Yosemite’s El Capitan (for we non-climbers, that means ascending that very sheer wall without a rope). Even before that, he was a rock star in the climbing community. I had the chance to talk with him today (full interview coming), but for now, here’s the answer he gave me during our conversation that surprised me the most.
