As much fun as it is to watch awards shows, it’s even more fun when I have the chance to parse the proceedings live on KGO Radio with the divine Maureen Langan. This week we talked The SAG Awards, particularly J.K. Simmons, who gave the performance of a lifetime in WHIPLASH, where MORTDECAI went wrong, and where THE HUMBLING went right.
Of course, as far as I’m concerned, the only Hollywood award that is given strictly on merit is the Razzie, and imagine my delight to report that, for the first time ever, the annual awards ceremony is open to the public. I was also delighted to do a plug for THREE STILL STANDING, a terrific documentary about three equally terrific Bay Area stand ups, Will Durst, Johnny Steele, and Larry “Bubbles” Brown.
